1. What is ‘Charcuterie’?

Charcuterie (or delicatessen), very popular with French and European consumers, is the branch of cooking devoted to prepared meat products, primarily pork, such as bacon, ham, sausage, terrines and pâtés. Charcuterie is part of the chef’s repertoire. Originally intended as a way to preserve meat before the advent of refrigeration, they are prepared today for their flavors derived from the preservation processes.

There are three main types of products:

  • Salted meats (uncooked ham, salami and chorizo)
  • Cooked (cooked ham, pâtés, rillettes and sausages)
  • And other products, such as sausages for cooking.

Each region has its own delicatessen specialty: Bayonne ham, rillettes of Le Mans, Toulouse sausage, etc.
The list is long throughout the rest of Europe too, where you can find a wide variety of such products (the Italian pancetta, Spanish chorizo, ham of the German black forest). There is not a corner of Europe where you can’t find a specialty of dried salami or sausage.

We strive to offer chefs and foodies alike the widest variety of French delicatessen specialty food and gourmet products, but our commitment is also to give you all this at the most competitive prices possible. We are committed to providing only the highest-quality gourmet products.

Respect of products – Authenticity – French know-how – traditional recipes

Our delicatessen is in the pure French tradition of artisan sausage production. We stay as close as possible to the original recipes that we use and each goes through traditional production processes. Special care is given to the origin and quality of the raw materials:

  • We use only Korean fresh meat
  • We use only prime parts of pork loin, ham and beef
  • All our sausages are made with natural casings
  • We do not use meat waste, as in some industrial companies
  • We do not use flour, egg, soy protein, thickener or other additives

3. History

The France Gourmet adventure began in Seoul in 2013. The project was born from the desire of 3 French men – a delicatessen maker, a chef and an engineer – to find the real taste of France in Seoul and to let the Korean people discover traditional French gastronomy.

The ultimate aim of these 3 fine food aficionados is to make superior quality and authentic products following time-honoured recipes. All their specialities are made by hand in their workshop in Seoul. Special care is given to the quality of each component: They use only fresh Korean meat, natural casings and they prepare their own spice mixes.

In 2015, with the growing popularity of France Gourmet’s artisan products, the 3 cuisine enthusiasts decided to launch an online store in order to allow more people the pleasure of the true French taste at home. The selection of products they offer has been increasing since 2013, so you can enjoy an array of quality foods, from delicatessen goods to cheese or fresh meat.
